Support EHWC!

If you are interested in donating to, advertising with, or sponsoring the EHWC, please contact us. Also, we are 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation (pending). Donations are tax deductible. Any support or sponsorship would be greatly appreciated and would help us reach our short and long-term goals. Wrestling costs money and our club has worked hard at keeping costs down to allow as many kids to afford the sport as possible.

Join the EHWC and hit the mats. Why join you ask?

We develop strong wrestlers! We wrestle Folkstyle and Freestyle, with Greco thrown in! Why three different styles...WHY NOT? Mat time is mat time which equals better wrestlers. Don't limit your season. Join a club that will coach, teach, push and develop you into a good wrestler! That club is the EHWC!

The individual nature of this sport provides an outstanding opportunity for young athletes to develop a sense of responsibility and self esteem while learning the relationship between effort and achievement. The EHWC welcomes kids and parents to join our wrestling family!

The EHWC Tigers are kids 4-18 years old. The Tigers are a USAW (United States Amateur Wrestling) Sanctioned Club, which wrestles three different styles of wrestling. Folkstyle, Freestyle, and Greco Roman wrestling. Freestyle and Greco-Roman focus more on wrestling from the feet. They are identical except that Greco-Roman is limited to upper-body holds. Folkstyle, on the other hand, places greater emphasis on establishing and maintaining control and involves more mat wrestling. Freestyle and Greco-Roman, are practiced internationally, and are gaining popularity in the U.S. as we continue to advance as a world wrestling power. World and Olympic championships in Freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling are conducted by FILA, the international governing body responsible for the administration and rule development of the sport. USA Wrestling conducts annual, regional and national tournaments in all three styles for male and female wrestlers of all ages. Folkstyle, the predominant form of scholastic wrestling in the United States, is found in our high schools, colleges and clubs. This style is unique to the U.S. Rules are established by the National Collegiate Athletic Association [NCAA] and the National Federation of State High School Associations.

Tigers focus half our season on Folkstyle with the remainder of the season on Freestyle and a few weeks of Greco. Freestyle offers more mat time and is Fun. It moves at a fast pace and is very exciting because you can score points from almost anywhere. Take your opponent from their feet to their back and get 3-points. You don't even have to hold them there to score, but if you do you will get another point. Gut-em and get two more points. Most freestyle matches also are mostly on your feet in the neutral position. Everyone loves to get takedowns. Greco is all upper body moves and technique, enforcing our more mat time = better wrestlers approach.

If your goal is to be a state champion or state placer, freestyle increases your chances dramatically. If one wrestler is getting 30 matches a year in Folkstyle wrestling and 30 matches in the freestyle season whom do you think is going to get better at a faster rate? More matches will improve your technique, skill, and mat strategy. More minutes on the mat = more wins. Are your opponents going to these tournaments and getting ahead of you? The best wrestlers in the state are wrestling freestyle tournaments in the spring. Are you going?

The Rebels were brought under EHWC in 2005 and are 6-8th grade kids. The Rebels are middle school age, and wrestle Folkstyle. Rebels enjoy having a program in place and will be prepared for wrestling at the high school level.
